If you find yourself getting cynical or sarcastic when you read or hear positive messages, it’s a sign that you’re not on track in your life. It’s a reflection of you, not the writer. It doesn’t diminish the truth of the message. It just means that it is more important for you to open your mind and listen.

Same for positive messages - when a positive message hits a negative note causing us to get cynical or sarcastic, it means that this is a mental area of weakness that we need to strengthen.
With exercise, the soreness means that our body is rebuilding and getting stronger. This pain is the price of admission to getting in shape. When we feel the bite of cynicism, we need to use the feedback as a time to rebuild, stretch ourselves, and get stronger.
