I had a request from a fan on YouTube to demonstrate more of the
Funakoshi takedowns or throws from his Master Text, Karate-Do Kyohan.
This is called the V-Turning Swallow. In Master Funakoshi's book, it is
shown against a front punch and defends with an X-block. Then, you clear
and hit with a backfist.
The flight of the swallow represents movements that rapidly go up and down. In this technique, we grab under the arm to create a V with their arm and quickly turn then drop to our knee.
