Making New Orleans Style Coffee with Wild Chicory Root
How to make New Orleans Style Coffee with Wild Chicory Root
In my last videos, I show you how to identify Chicory, http://youtu.be/rA5qvbn6c44, and roast and grind Chicory, http://youtu.be/z9HUb6gwj74. This video uses my ground Chicory to make a delicious beverage called New Orleans Style Coffee.
Since the Chicory is caffeine free it reduces the total amount of caffeine in your coffee. It also cuts some of the coffee bitterness adding an almost toffee-like sweetness.
To make our New Orleans Style Coffee, add 1 part of chicory for each two parts of your regular coffee blend. In the video, I am using a double scoop so I fill the coffee maker with 6 cups of water and add 2 scoops of coffee with 1 scoop of Ground Chicory. Brew as you normally would for regular coffee.
Pour in a mug and enjoy!
