In my last video, I showed how to make a two handed acorn whistle. Today, we're going to explore how to create a one handed whistle. The one handed whistle is slightly more difficult to master then the two handed version, but with a little practice, you will pick it up.
Again, I like the bigger size acorn caps like the chestnut oak acorn. To create the whistle, you wedge the acorn facing up in the webbing between your index and middle finger. Place your lips on the second knuckle of your index and middle fingers. You blow across the slight gap between your index and middle finger just like a whistle to produce the noise.
I found that the main problem is that most people leave too large of a gap between their fingers.
These make a great emergency whistle. To produce a distress signal, blow three blasts on the whistle to signal for help.
